# Slack alerts

Post Rookflare alerts and the daily summary to a Slack channel your team already reads. All it needs is an incoming webhook URL.

## What the Slack integration does

### What it does

- Posts a message when an issue opens, gets worse, comes back or is resolved, with the site, severity, page and time.
- Can post a daily summary each morning with open issues, new issues and changes to review from the previous day.
- Shows the channel as Failing in Rookflare if Slack stops accepting the webhook, for example after the channel is archived.

### Before you start

- A Growth and Agency plan. The 14-day free trial runs on Growth, so you can set it up before you pay.
- Owner or admin role in your Rookflare organization.
- Permission to add apps or incoming webhooks to the Slack channel.

## Set up Slack step by step

### 1. Create an incoming webhook in Slack

In Slack, add the Incoming Webhooks app to the channel, or create a Slack app with incoming webhooks turned on, and copy the webhook URL. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.

### 2. Add a Slack channel in Rookflare

Open Notifications → Channels, select “Add channel”, choose Slack, give it a name such as #website-alerts and paste the webhook URL. Rookflare stores it encrypted and never shows it again.

### 3. Send a test

Open the channel’s menu and select “Send test”. The test message appears in Slack and the channel’s status changes from “Not tested” to “Working”.

### 4. Choose which alerts each website sends

On the Alert preferences tab, pick the lowest severity that alerts for each website (Critical, High, Medium or Low) and whether resolved notices and the daily summary go out. Visual changes to review follow the same setting.

Sample endpoint and placeholder token. The dashboard fills in yours.

## If it does not work

### The channel shows Failing

Slack no longer accepts the webhook. It was probably removed or the channel was archived. Create a new incoming webhook and use “Reconnect” on the channel; Rookflare replaces the URL and keeps the channel’s history.

### The URL is not accepted

Paste a Slack incoming webhook URL that starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/. Links to a channel or a workflow do not work.

### No messages arrive

Check that the channel’s toggle is on, then check the website’s lowest severity on the Alert preferences tab. Notifications → History lists every alert Rookflare sent or tried to send, with the reason when one failed.

## Slack integration questions

### How do I keep alerts from getting noisy?

Rookflare sends one alert when an issue opens, not one per scan, and tells you again only when it gets worse, comes back or is resolved. Raise the lowest severity per website on the Alert preferences tab if you still get too many.

### Can I post to more than one Slack channel?

Yes. Add one Rookflare channel per Slack webhook. Alerts and summaries go to every channel that is on.

### What can Rookflare read in our Slack?

Nothing. An incoming webhook can only post messages to the one channel it was created for.
